Ski Australia’s High Route with us along the Main Range passing through the nation’s highest mountains & climbing the three highest peaks; Mt Twynam, Mt Townsend, Mt Kosciuszko. Starting in Guthega & finishing in Thredbo this is SMBC’s signature tour.
Totalling approximately 25km this arduous ski tour is for experienced backcountry skiers with a high level of fitness, focusing on gaining distance with long climbs, descents & traverses. This tour is physically & mentally demanding, lightweight equipment is essential.

More Detail
This is an arduous ski tour only for those with previous ski touring experience, a high level of fitness & skiing ability. We need to be assured that you are suitable for this demanding tour, ideally you should have previously undertaken our Main Range Tour or Western Faces Experience. If not we will discuss your capabilities prior to the tour, a referee is ideal. You must be well rested & prepared for the day. Participants will need to be at Guthega SMBC HQ at 6:00a.m. for briefing, tour will commence at 6:30a.m sharp!
Shuttle will be provided to start & finish the day. Participants will be picked up at 5:00a.m in Jindabyne & again in the afternoon from Thredbo for Jindabyne return.

Lightweight equipment is essential:

this tour is not suited to standard downhill boots, you will require alpine touring boots.

Freshly tuned & waxed skis run well on long traverses!
